Today the Care inspectorate published their most recent statistics relating to registered childcare and childminding services in Scotland. At first glance we can see that there are 711 registered main-service out of school care services, of which 47% are provided by the voluntary sector, 39% by the private sector, and 14% by the public sector. 40,480 children are registered with the 711 services and there is a total of 32,470 registered places, with an average of 45.7 places per service.

Although both the total number of services and places has dropped slightly from 2020 (5 less services and 330 less places) the total number of children registered with out of school care services has increased by 1,670.
