We have a range on in-person school age childcare specific training and offer a bespoke consultancy service to help keep your childcare service in good health.

Policy and research

As the national intermediary organisation in Scotland for school-age childcare, we are involved in advocacy work on behalf of the sector and provide expert opinion and offer views, on proposals, issues or policies affecting the sector.

training for the sector

Booking

SOSCN currently has a range of in-person training sessions aimed specifically at the school age childcare sector. We run our training sessions throughout the year across Scotland. 

We are also happy to travel and deliver training sessions to your service/groups of services/local networking groups/or any other groups of staff! 

To get the ball rolling, fill out our short online Training Interest Form, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible to get organising.

About the Trainer

Patrick is the Practice and Training Officer at SOSCN, bringing over 14 years of experience in the school age childcare sector. His career has spanned a range of roles from Playworker to Manager, including more than eight years as the Designated Child Protection Officer for one of Scotland's largest school age childcare services.

Patrick holds multiple sector-relevant qualifications, including:

  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training
  • SCQF Level 9 in Playwork
  • BA in Childhood Practice
  • NSPCC's Training for Trainers in Safeguarding and Child Protection

His approach to training is practical, engaging, and grounded in real‑world experience, supporting practitioners to build confidence, strengthen their practice, and deliver high‑quality experiences for children across Scotland.
