Moving and Handling

Every service, especially those including children with disabilities, will have a policy on moving and handling children; whether it is in supporting their physical care, or in keeping them safe. A parent might be anxious about how this is carried out, so they should ask to see the service policy on Moving and Handling children or equivalent policy.

Poor practice may result in breaches of children's rights, is detrimental to welfare and limits enjoyment of life. The report sets out a number of recommendations to address poor practice.
