Care Inspectorate Childcare Statistics 2016
There are now 739 stand-alone OSC services of which, 47% are run by the voluntary sector, 39% by the private and 13% by the public. The average capacity is 42.9 places.
Together, stand-alone OSC services and holiday play schemes are providing places for nearly 55,000 children- the 2nd largest sector delivering childcare in Scotland.
739 stand alone services with 290 additional service makes a total of 1029 out of school care services. And only 44 of the 599 holiday playschemes are stand alone.
All registered 626 breakfast clubs are additional to main service, usually out of school care or nurseries.
